My parents fled post-revolution Iran for the U.S. to find a better life for my sister and me. First traveling though Turkey and Germany, we were separated for a year before finally being able to rebuild our lives in our new country. I was seven years old.
Why I'm serving
During this time, I was exposed to gender, class, and religious injustices, which forged equity and inclusion as my core principles. While I’ve also had many privileges such as education, housing stability, and health care, I know what’s possible when public and private sector leaders confront disparities—they elevate the entire community.
As your elected official, I will work hard to strengthen the economy, protect our environment, keep our neighborhoods safe, and cultivate new opportunities so that everyone has the chance to fulfill their potential.
